How to get your X (Twitter) bookmarks into Notion or your notes app
The instinct is right: bookmarks locked inside X are dead weight, and your notes app is where saved things become usable. The question is the pipe. There are three real ways to build it, and they differ mostly in how much ongoing labor they quietly sign you up for.
Route 1 — clip at save-time
When you bookmark something worth keeping, immediately paste the link (Notion unfurls it) or copy the text into your database, add a tag, done. Cost: ~30 seconds per save, paid forever, from your most distracted moments — you were mid-scroll. This route produces beautiful, curated databases with a lifespan of about two weeks before entries stop appearing. Works well if you restrict it to the genuinely great saves rather than everything.
Route 2 — bulk import from your archive
Request your X data archive, extract the bookmarks data, reshape it (spreadsheet-fu or a small script), and import to Notion as a database. You get your whole backlog in one move. Costs: the archive takes a day+ to arrive, the data needs massaging from developer-ish JSON, and the import is a snapshot — next month it's stale and the chore repeats. Best as a one-time backfill, combined with one of the other routes going forward.
Route 3 — skip the pipe, sync to a tool that reads them
Step back: the reason you want bookmarks in Notion is search, organization, and reuse. A sync tool can deliver those directly. IdeaCoach's Chrome extension pipes your bookmarks in continuously; AI categorizes them, makes them chat-searchable ("what did I save about landing pages?"), and extracts the ranked business ideas inside — no database maintenance, no stale snapshots. If Notion is still the destination for your keepers, do Route 1 for the top 1% and let sync handle the other 99%.
Frequently asked questions
Is there an official X-to-Notion integration?
No official one. Pasting an X link into Notion unfurls a preview, but there's no native bookmark sync — the pipes above are what exist.
What format are bookmarks in the X archive?
Structured data (JSON) inside the archive download — fine for a script or a patient spreadsheet session, not a ready-to-import document.
Can I still keep a curated Notion database alongside IdeaCoach?
Yes, and it's the sane split: hand-clip the rare must-keep saves into Notion, and let sync + chat cover the long tail automatically.
